![]() ![]() I put the stock speaker back in the amp and the Vox voice returned. I tried switching to a Celestion Greenback because youtube videos reccomended it switching speakers muddied up the tone, lost all the chime. No extra fee and no dropping off your amp at a guitar tech shop. Something you can do yourself that gets instant results. This amp is also cathode biased, which means which ever new upgrade tubes you pop in even if they're mismatched dont need to be biased by an amp tech. Just that quick $80 4 tube swap upgrade that makes these amps come alive. Youll want to be sure to change out the cheap chinese stock tubes for more bass and volume output with 4 new JJ tubes. The amp gain dial actually sounds better to me than most of my drive pedals JHS, Earthquaker, etc. Vox AC10C1 has more volume and headroom than my 15 watt 65 Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue. Vox AC10c1 amp is definitely loud enough to hang with a drummer and a bass player, Ive had mine for a few years now. I’m not the kind of guy who likes to buy things twice, so my question is, do I keep it or return it for something that sounds similar but is a bit better constructed?ĭo people even care about that stuff? Am I being crazy? Haha. I started watching some reviews on YouTube and whatnot, though, and I can’t help but to understand how cheaply constructed and poorly designed the circuit is. Super easy to dial in (compared to my Boogies) and just feels really solid. I received it about a week ago and it really does sound phenomenal. I ended up picking one up (demo) from Sweetwater. The Vox AC10C1 is constantly coming up in forums, Reddit, and has glowing 5-star reviews on Sweetwater, Amazon, Guitar Center, etc. I got the amp itch, but I didn’t want to spend a ton of money. After 6 months, though, I grew tired of having to open my computer, open the DAW, pull up a preset, etc. ![]() ![]() I was using Helix Native into studio monitors and, for the most part, I was happy with the sound. VOX tone at its best.6 months ago I made the decision to sell off my amps (Boogies) and go all-in on digital. You'll change the base character and be disappointed, as well as a few hundred euro poorer for having bought NOS tubes and vintage speaker. Pure, Sweet, Jangly, Gritty, Real VOX Tone! Don't change a thing on this amp. Get in on the ground floor and pick one up for 499. ![]() It will be a classic amp some day, like the Princeton. OK, the Princeton is more handmade, but when you play these side by side, the Vox AC 10 C1 stands up and hold its own. A new Princeton will run double in price. The closest size weight amp is the Fender Princeton (I own a 1966). You can't touch an amp like this for the price. Light, portable, loud, clean headroom and lots of room for grit. Even the way the chassis is engineered to fit perfectly in this small sized cabinet. They go well with the all circuit board construction. The Chinese made tube don't suck, like many purists think. The custom VX10 sounds perfect in the mostly closed back cabinet. This amp sound totally VOX because of this. They source the proper parts and custom make other part to make sure every thing is perfect. They use certain components for a reason. There's a reason Vox build this lovely little powerhouse the way they did. There are tons of reviews about this amp and tons of forums telling people to mod this amp straight out of the box. ![]()
